Dayton Contemporary Dance Company’s The Jacob Lawrence Project, better known as colôr-ógraphy, n. The Dances of Jacob Lawrence, is a multi-faceted production. The performance incorporates and showcases the work of four of today’s best African-American choreographers: Donald Byrd, whose Donald Byrd/The Group was internationally acclaimed for over two decades; Rennie Harris, world renown hip hop pioneer and creator of PureMovement; Kevin Ward, multi-talented, award-winning Artistic Director of Dayton Contemporary Dance Company; and Reggie Wilson, Guggenheim Fellow and founder of the Reggie Wilson/Fist & Heel Performance Group. As you learn about each of these talented and visionary choreographers, you’ll understand why this performance promises to capture your imagination as it takes your breath away.
