Artist Residencies

Residencies provide a wide range of interaction between the artists who perform on our stage and members of the community. Activities include lecture/demonstrations, master classes, workshops, visiting scholars and artists, seminars, community projects and panel discussions. Events are planned for the Lawrence area and statewide. Arts Across Kansas, the Lied Center’s statewide outreach initiative, brings the performing arts into rural areas and small communities in Kansas. Statewide residencies, from Great Bend to Garden City, from Holton to Hutchinson, have included the Latino comedy trio Culture Clash, the dance troupe Ballet Hispanico, the chamber ensemble Hutchins Consort, classical guitarist Robert Bluestone, Native American flutist-dancer Kevin Locke, and chamber ensemble Cypress String Quartet. Since the program began in 1998-99, education workshops and performances have been presented in 16 counties and have involved more than 12,000 people across Kansas and the region.
