Tai Chi

Tai Chi was derived from Taoism, which is concerned with tranquility of the mind and improvement of temperament. Tai Chi reveals the relationship between nature and humans, believing that, although we can’t escape the effects of nature, we can adapt to the environment by putting restrictions on our demands, activities and ambitions. This may result in living a longer more balanced life of stability and peace. As a result of this philosophy, Tai Chi involves slow, concentrated movements. It incorporates the belief that good health comes not from great strength (as in many other martial arts) but from softer actions that allow the muscles of the whole body to relax more easily. This also allows the nervous system to relax, so our emotions will be more stable.
