Career as a Writer

Although Lin Hwai-Min’s passion for dance first appeared at age 5, after watching the movie “The Red Shoes,” his parents insisted on a career in writing. While secretly taking dance lessons, he pursued writing with unusual success until moving to the US, where he soon abandoned writing for a career in modern dance. Before Lin Hwai-Min left the world of writing for the world of dance, he attained a Master of Fine Arts from the Writers' Workshop at the University of Iowa, a very prestigious writing program. His novella Cicada is a best seller in Taiwan, and several of his short stories have been translated into English and published in the United States.
