Performing Arts 3to5 exposes young children, ages 3 to 5, to intimate, accessible and fun arts experiences through live performances at the Lied Center, and ties them to classroom activities and a workshop for teachers.
For 2008-09, the Lied Center’s Performing Arts 3to5 educational programming will focus on classical music.
Imani Winds, a Grammy-nominated wind quintet will perform
Music is Fun! at four school performances in February 2009.
Music is Fun!, a 40-minute performance program, is specifically designed for the preschool to second-grade level student. To create an intimate setting and a personal experience, the students will be seated on stage with the musicians.

As a follow up to the school performances, teaching artist Thad Beach will offer in-class interactive residencies for each attending classroom. Thad’s workshops will introduce the children to classical music and instruments.
Before the performance, Mr. Beach will offer a teacher’s workshop to participating classroom teachers. The workshop will provide related skills and lesson plans to teach basic music concepts and tie the performance to classroom curriculum.
