Spirit Horse
Based on the Irish play Tir Na N’Og by Greg Banks
Canadian adaptation by award-winning First Nations playwright Drew Heyden Taylor
Directed by Greg Banks

Spirit Horse is a powerful and moving adventure of two First Nations city children, Angeline and Johnny Boy whose lives are changed forever by the appearance of a Spirit Horse – a gift from their grandfather who lives by the old ways on a prairie reserve. Their incredible bond to this majestic animal links these urban children with their Stoney Nation heritage and brings new hope and healing to a troubled single-parent family caught between two worlds.
“Although Spirit Horse is a about a First Nations family, it accurately reflects the experience of many families who have parents or grandparents who speak another language and live in a different culture. It is a perfect example of something very specific representing something universal. I hope you will enjoy the play as much as we have enjoyed creating the experience for you. It is filled with laughter, excitement, drama, music and, ultimately, new hope for a wounded family.”
-- David S Craig, Artistic Director
