Josephine Baker: "A Life of Le Jazz Hot"
Wednesday, Feb. 11 – 7:30 p.m.

• Imani Winds, the Grammy-nominated wind quintet, performs its tribute to the extraordinary life of Josephine Baker (1905-1975) as a progressive thinker, an innovator and as one of the most significant jazz performers of all time.

• Backed by projections of historical film footage, the quintet will be joined onstage by jazz vocalist Rene Marie and percussionist Joe Tompkins.

• Over three acts, Imani Winds will explore the vibrant and controversial phases of Josephine’s life and the intense, commanding quality of her voice through Imani-arranged wind compositions and Ms. Baker’s iconic cabaret songs.
