The Velveteen Rabbit

ODC/Dance
Sunday, Sept. 21 – 2 p.m.

The Velveteen Rabbit, based on Margery Williams’ 1922 book is a classic tale about the enduring power of love.

• Given as a gift to a young boy, the Velveteen Rabbit lives in the nursery with all of the other toys, waiting for the day when the boy will choose him as a playmate, love him and make him real.

• ODC/Dance began as a group of dancers, musicians and artists from Oberlin College in Ohio in the early 1970s.

• Relocating to San Francisco in 1976, the Oberlin Dance Collective (ODC/Dance) is now one of the preeminent dance organizations in the United States featuring a modern and contemporary performance repertoire.

• In sharp contrast to their usual revolutionary repertoire, ODC/Dance has been performing the classic family show, The Velveteen Rabbit, annually for over 20 years.

• Show will feature 10 Lawrence-area children under the direction of the Lawrence Arts Center
