DESCRIPTION;ENCODING=QUOTED-PRINTABLE:Once every four years, the prestigious Van Cliburn International Piano Competition invites a select few young musicians to compete for significant awards. Among other honors, the prizes include three years of international concert engagements. Since 1962, this esteemed piano competition has honored Van Cliburn, who was only 23 years old in 1958, when he won the first International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow—at the height of the Cold War. Continuing the tradition, the Cliburn Competition Gold Medal winner, selected on June 7, 2009 will perform on the Lied Center stage.
