The Pink Floyd Experience

Friday, September 21 - 7:30 p.m.

Marching Hammers
Hammers are a major symbol in “The Wall,” possessing both creative and destructive powers. The hammers appear as parts of machinery and in marching rows, metaphorically creating “ideal” members of society while destroying individuality.

Hammers are used extensively to symbolize what created —and ended — the torment of Pink, the main character in “The Wall.” When Pink becomes a fascist leader, his followers march under a flag bearing the logo of two crossed hammers.
