The Pink Floyd Experience

Friday, September 21 - 7:30 p.m.

Tick Tock. Tick Tock.
The song “Time” beings with layers of ticking clocks recorded by the band’s engineer, Alan Parsons. Each clock was recorded separately at an antiques store and the band blended them together. Parsons wanted to use the clocks to demonstrate a new quadraphonic sound system, but they ended up using it to open the song instead.

David Gilmour says, “He had just been sent out to do a recording in a clock shop for the sound effects library … and we were doing the song “Time,” and he said ‘Listen, I just did all these things, I did all these clocks,’ and so we wheeled out his tape and listened to it and said ‘Great! Stick it on!’”
