The Lied Center is more than just the high quality events that you know us for. Each year, the Lied Center introduces children in our community to the performing arts with free school performances. Your gift to Friends of the Lied makes it possible for students to attend these free student performances.
On October 5, 2,331 area K-3rd graders came to the Lied Center to enjoy a performance of Tomas and the Library Lady. In the weeks leading up to the event, teachers were able to prepare their students for this performance about cultural diversity and the importance of reading. They received free study guides created to specifically help them address these issues with their class.
Elementary schools in attendance were: Broken Arrow, Cordley, Deerfield, Hillcrest, Kennedy, Langston Hughes, New York, Pinckney, Prairie Park, Quail Run, Saint Johns School, Sunflower, Sunset, T.E.A.C.H., Wakarusa Valley, Williamsburg and Woodlawn.
You can help the Friends of the Lied support free school performances. Join the Friends of the Lied today!
